EPISCOPAL HIGH SCHOOL ADOPTS CAMPUS CANOPIES AS COVID-19 MITIGATION SOLUTION

Privacy Structure Acts As a Physical Barrier to Virus Transmission in Shared Dorm Rooms

July 14, 2020

Episcopal High School (EHS), a four-year boarding school in Alexandria, VA, and Campus Canopies, a woman-owned company in Baltimore, MD, announced today that EHS has adopted Campus Canopies as a COVID-19 mitigation solution for its dorm rooms.

EHS will provide the Campus Canopies product to 400 students when they arrive on campus this Fall. Each student will receive a canopy structure that attaches to their bed, with curtain panels that provide a barrier for coronavirus transmission in shared living spaces.

"Campus Canopies is the perfect physical distancing solution for students in double and triple rooms," said Doug Dickson, Assistant Head of School for Student Life at EHS. "These curtains will help with our overall measures to mitigate the possible spread of the virus when our students go to bed at night."

Dr. Adrianna Bravo, the Medical Director at EHS, has developed a number of COVID-19 protocols for re-opening the campus this Fall. The Campus Canopies panels will be cleaned at least once a week. Students will be required to wear masks during the school day.

“The canopy takes the place of the mask for respiratory droplet transmission when the curtain panels are closed,” Dr. Bravo said. “So masks will not be required when the students are sleeping.”

Campus Canopies will be provided at no charge to EHS students. Students will be given the opportunity to personalize their canopy by selecting from among eight fabric options prior to their arrival.

"I am thrilled to be working with Episcopal High School to help EHS students stay healthy," said Debra Williams, the founder, and CEO of Campus Canopies. "A safe living environment is critical for students while they learn."
